William Goran, director of the Center for the Advancement of Sustainability Innovations at the Army's Construction Engineering Research Laboratory in Champaign, spoke as a private citizen about the Army's 2004 sustainability vision, its 2010 campaign plan, Global Reporting Initiative sustainability reports, LEED-based construction standards, net-zero installations, microgrids, 25-percent-renewable-by-2025 goals, and climate change as a defense issue.
