Lorenzo Baber, a former University of Illinois faculty member then at Iowa State, substituting for James Anderson, spoke on institutional racism at predominantly white institutions, from Black Power to Black Lives Matter. He compared lists of Black student demands from 1968-71 with those compiled from 77 campuses in 2015, and traced eras of racial ideology in higher education from the Morrill Acts and the GI Bill to "post-racialism." In a long Q&A he discussed UIUC's 45-point 1968 demands, admissions, tuition, yield, and STEM diversity.
