Charles Brown, senior researcher at the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center and adjunct professor at Rutgers, presented findings from a New Jersey Department of Transportation-funded study of barriers to bicycling among Black and Hispanic residents, drawing on more than 2,000 intercept surveys across 34 towns and two focus groups. He framed the talk around the character Franklin from "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" as an image of token inclusion, covered bike theft, fear of assault, police stops and gentrification, and took about 30 minutes of audience questions.
