A lecture-performance with Jeff Glassman and Evany Bradley. The guest artist, a community-based theatre artist, asked the audience and her students to list what art can do, explained her practice of working in the medium of movement, and offered the formulation that "art is that which it is not." She recounted beginning performance work at 14 through a CETA program, her father's death when she was 15, work at Hull House, and 1980s Champaign-Urbana performances around apartheid and HIV/AIDS. Jeff Glassman performed "Eulogy"; two further pieces, "Katherine" and an excerpt from "Side Eye," were performed, followed by audience Q&A.
