Susan Parenti described deciding, after the UN's October 2018 twelve-year climate warning, to stop everything else and focus on limiting the damage of catastrophic climate change. She recounted designing and running "Rewriting Cassandra," in which twenty people met two to eight hours a day from September 16 to December 7, 2019, unpaid, with no leaders or syllabus, and read notes from recruiting phone calls. Elizabeth Simpson opened and closed with group singing; Parenti performed theater scenes, and participants described a pop-up climate cafe, a March 4 lobbying bus, the Clean Energy Jobs Act and bank divestment.
