Daniel Gonzalez, a PhD candidate in geography at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, presented research on how data interoperability links federal, state, local and private databases into what he calls an expanded border. He discussed DHS contracting, Palantir's case management system, sanctuary-city ID programs in San Francisco, a 2018 ICE raid in O'Neill, Nebraska, and campus app data, then took audience questions on resistance, privacy law and open-source alternatives. Spring 2021 series "The Digital Misshaping and Shaping of the World," held online. About 45 attended on Zoom.
