Rev. Jennifer Bailey, founder of the Faith Matters Network, traced the uncredited labor of Black women in the civil rights movement, notably Montgomery cook and organizer Georgia Gilmore, critiqued headlines casting Black women as saviors of democracy, and offered three questions drawn from the "church mothers" of her childhood AME congregation. A long audience exchange followed on congregational decline, Jewish memory and antisemitism, intergenerational organizing, social media, rest and local gun violence. Friday Forum / Conversation Cafe, co-presented with the Illinois Interfaith Conference.
