In the Wake of Unit 4's Resolution Against Racism

A panel on Champaign Unit 4 School District's Resolution Against Racism. Ken Salo framed structural racism historically, linking residential and school segregation, and screened a short documentary clip. Angela Ward recalled the district's consent decree era and the difficulty of filling honors seats with Black students; Brenda Taylor explained the AVID program and her path from corporate work into teaching; Sheldon Turner described Operation Hope and Go Getters. Audience members, including parents and alumni, responded with personal testimony. The final Friday Forum / Conversation Cafe of spring 2022, co-presented with the campus Office of Diversity and Social Justice Education.
