Candace Hunter gave a lecture and slide presentation on her exhibition "Dust in Their Veins: A Visual Response to the Global Water Crises," then on view in the Murphy Gallery. She traced the work's origins to Langston Hughes's "The Negro Speaks of Rivers" and to critic Lucy Lippard, described researching water scarcity, guinea worm, and the labor of women and girl water carriers, and argued that lack of clean water stems from corporate and governmental greed, citing Flint, Michigan. A long audience Q&A followed.
