Stacey Robinson, illustrator and assistant professor of graphic design at the University of Illinois, walked through the work and thinking behind his exhibition "Future Spaces in Community Places," then on view in the gallery at the University YMCA. He traced influences from album cover art, hip-hop sampling, Black Panther and W.E.B. Du Bois manifestos, and his Harvard fellowship, and discussed his graphic novels I Am Alfonso Jones and Across the Tracks, on the Tulsa Race Massacre. A collaborator, Shea, spoke about the children's book project Stargazers. A student host from Diversity Ed opened with a land acknowledgment; audience Q&A closed the hour.
