Welcoming Immigrants in Champaign County

Gloria Yen, director of the New American Welcome Center, recounted the Y's century of international work, immigrant-justice organizing in the 2010s, the NAWC's founding as one of 17 YMCA of the USA pilot centers, its helpline and legal services, 2020 census work, and the 2021 Welcoming Plan for Champaign County. She was introduced by Ricardo Diaz, a Board of Governors member and NAWC advisor. The first session of the fall 2022 Friday Forum + Conversation Cafe series "Our Community in Action," co-presented with Diversity & Social Justice Education and held in Latzer Hall during Welcoming Week Champaign County.
